My SSD worked just fine, so I decided to switch my SSD and HDD's SATA and SATA Power cables. The first was to try different SATA and SATA Power cables. UPDATE #2: Not sure if anyone is still here, but I decided to try a few different things before calling Seagate. TL/DR: you might want to check the temps of your HDD, and might want to add some cooling. (my computer now blows cold air.) Strange noises from my Seagate drive were gone! Never had any scary noises from that drive again. Then I placed 2 120 mm fans in the side of my case, cooling my entire computer "like crazy". Because I had welded in some extra HDD racks (case only could fit 2 HDD's, after the mod, 6), heat buildup could be an issue. My 2 other HDD's (Samsung, smaller capacity) were also very hot, but had no such noises. After opening the case, it felt really hot. *PS: when I first got my 3tb Seagate HDD (no SDD, duh.) it would make funny and scary noises. If that will make the drive disapear again, I would send it back to seagate, with a list of all the tests you have done. You might also want to put some really LARGE files on that drive, all at once, really making the HDD work/hot.
